Who invented darts?
Darts are believed to have originated in England during medieval times. Nobody knows who invented darts, but historians discovered that Anne Boleyn gifted a game of darts to her husband, King Henry VIII, in 1534.
In the 1800s, English soldiers played darts to practise their throwing skills. They also threw darts as a pastime when they were bored. They used sections of tree trunks as targets and stubs of arrows as darts. Like many games, darts could also be found in pubs across the country.
In 1896, an English carpenter named Brian Gamlin created the numbering system on dartboards that we all know and use nowadays. Twelve years later, in 1908, a judge declared that darts was a game of skill after William Anakin, the best dartist in Leeds, hit three double 20s in a row. Since, this popular game is played by people in bars, at home, after work…
Each year, darts tournaments, such as the World Professional Darts Championship, are watched by millions of sports enthusiasts across the world. This competitive yet playful sport gathers families and friends; that’s why there are 5 interactive dartboards at Shuffled!

Darts rules for beginners
1 – A dartboard contains 20 sections divided into zones or rings (single zone, double zone, triple zone), each representing a different score. The centre of the target, the bull’s-eye, is divided into two circles: the inner circle (50 points) and the outer circle (25 points).
2 – Each player throws three darts per round.
3 – The player who scores the most points or reaches zero before others wins. Rules depend on the game mode you pick.
Five game modes for more fun!
Our interactive dartboards include 5 darts variants: 201, Killer, High Striker, Høggern and Shanghai. Each game mode is a unique experience, more or less difficult, but always fun.
